Default Folders

Default folders are set up automatically under two of the root folders, DataSets and Jobs, when you first log on to the z/OS server (the Unix root folder does not have any default folders). These folders allow you to get started quickly without having to configure your own folders. They are also useful when multiple persons are using the same computer, providing each user with his own folders.

The default folders are set up as follows:

  • Under the DataSets root folder, a default folder is created with the name “xxxxxxxx Prefix”, where xxxxxxxx is the TSO User ID. The default filter is xxxxxxxx.**, which allows all data sets starting with the xxxxxxxx user ID to be viewed from this folder.

  • Under the Jobs root folder, a default folder is created with the name “xxxxxxxx Owner”, where xxxxxxxx is the TSO User ID. The default filter is set to display all jobs owned by this user ID.
