Use OLE linking and embedding to exchange information between Extra! and documents created in other applications. Use linking when you want the information to be updated dynamically as the information in your host application changes.
For example, you can link accounting application information to a Microsoft Excel chart. Whenever the information changes in your host application, your changes are displayed in the chart in the Microsoft Excel document if it is open. If the Microsoft Excel document is not open, the chart is updated the next time you open the document. To create a link between Extra! and a document in another application, that application must be running, and it must support object linking and embedding (OLE).
To embed selected information from a session
Start Extra! (the "source application") and navigate to the host screen page that contains the data you want to embed.
Start the application in which you want to embed session information (the "target application").
Select the portion of the host screen containing your information.
Switch to the target application and select the location where you would like to embed the information.
From the Edit menu in your target application, choose Paste Special.
In the Paste Special dialog box, select Text data type from the As box, and select the Paste Link option.
Choose the OK button.
To embed an entire session
Start the application in which you want to embed the session (the "target application").
From the Insert menu, choose Object.
Choose the Create From File tab.
Select the session file that you want to embed. If the file does not appear in the current file list, select the correct directory, or use the Network button or the Find File button to locate it.
Choose the OK button.
