- From the Classic Data File Tools IDE, click
File > Open.
- Use the Open dialog box to select and open a data file.
- If the data file does not have a file header, and it has no associated profile file, complete the fields on the Data File Editor dialog box; then click
OK. See

Note: Fixed- or variable-length indexed, and variable-length sequential or relative files contain file information headers.
