Configuration Translation Wizard

Configuration translations are the rules for translating client connection information to host connection information. InfoConnect Airlines Gateway includes a Translation Wizard to assist you in creating configuration translations. The Translation Wizard allows you to specify which host path to use based on the configuration of your networked PCs.You use configuration translations to handle existing DOS and Windows clients with newer host path configurations. For example, if the networked PCs run PEPGate LAN Workstation and InfoConnect Airlines Gateway connects to the host using INT1, you could use a configuration translation to translate RID/SID information to an INT1 terminal ID.

To create a configuration translation

  1. Open Gateway Administrator.

  2. From the tree view, select Configure.

  3. On the Translation tab, click Add.

  4. Respond to the prompts in the Translation Wizard.

    The Configuration Translation Wizard guides you through creating a new configuration translation. To display help for an individual option on any page, click the button on the titlebar and then click an option.

Description

Client Transports

Select the transport that should be used to connect to the host.

Client Configuration Information

Select Yes to allow the connection to accept configuration information from the client. The default is No.

None

Select to prevent the host from accepting an address from the client.

Any

Select to allow the host to accept any address from the client.

Value

Select to allow the host to accept only a specified address from the client.

None

Select to prevent the host from accepting a host path name from the client.

Any

Select to allow the host to accept any host path name from the client.

New Host Path Name

A default name for the host path just created is displayed. To change the default, type a new name.

New Host Path Description

A default description for the host path just created is displayed. To change the default, type a new description.

Configuration Translation Specifications

Review the specifications for the configuration translation. To make changes, use the back button. To accept the specifications displayed and create the configuration translation, choose Finish.

Use an Existing Path

Select the Use an Existing Path check box to choose one of the existing host paths from the list box. Clear the check box to create a new host path.
