The 3270 Settings - Colors Graphics Page

The Colors Graphics Page is used to change the colors of your graphics screen and create color schemes that you can use.

NOTE:These settings are only accessible from a 3270 display session. These settings are not available in a non-graphics terminal.

To change 3270 host graphics colors

  1. From the Options menu, choose Settings.

  2. From the Categories list, choose Colors.

  3. On the Graphics page, from either the host monitor or the drop-down list beneath it, select the color you want to change.

    NOTE:You can also select Background (the last selection in the list) to change the background color.

  4. Select the Foreground Color.

    A small color palette displays from which you can select a new color. To select a color that isn't currently offered, choose the Other button from the color palette. A Color dialog box displays from which you can select a new basic color, or create a custom color.

  5. Choose OK to apply the new color to the host screen.

To change cursor colors

  1. From the Options menu, choose Settings.

  2. From the Categories list, choose Colors.

  3. From either the host monitor or the drop-down list beneath it, select the Cursor.

  4. Select the Foreground Color or Background Color (depending on what you are changing).

    A small color palette displays from which you can select a new color.

  5. Choose OK to apply the new color to the host screen.

Setting

Description

Scheme

Lists color schemes from which you can choose to apply to a session. The list includes those schemes provided by Extra! and the schemes you have created.

Save As button

Opens the Save As dialog box where you can save a color scheme to be used later.

Delete button

Deletes the color scheme selected in the Scheme list box.

Host Monitor and Item List

Shows the display areas and colors that can be changed. Once you have selected an item on this list, or from the list box beneath it, and selected a new color from the Foreground or Background Color palette, that item displays in the new color.

Foreground Color

Displays the color of the graphic area currently selected on the "host monitor." Clicking the Foreground box displays a small color palette from which you can select a different color, or create a custom color.

To change 3270 host attribute colors

  1. From the Options menu, choose Settings.

  2. From the Categories list, choose Colors.

  3. On the General page, select the color mode (Always 2-Color, 2 or 4-Color, Always 4-Color) you want.

    The color mode you choose determines the choices available on the host monitor or the drop-down list beneath it.

  4. From either the host monitor or the drop-down list beneath it, select the color you want to change.

  5. Select the Foreground Color or Background Color (depending on what you are changing).

  6. Choose OK to apply the new color to the host screen.

To create a 3270 color scheme

  1. From the Options menu, choose Settings.

  2. From the Categories list, choose Colors.

  3. Map the colors that you want to change.

  4. Choose the Save As button.

  5. In the Save Scheme dialog box, enter the name of your new scheme and choose the Local or Remote option button, then choose OK.

To delete a 3270 color scheme

  1. From the Options menu, choose Settings.

  2. From the Categories list, choose Colors.

  3. In the Scheme list box, choose the scheme you want to delete.

  4. Choose the Delete button, then choose OK.
