To view the contents of a data set

  1. In the dropdown list under Resources on the ESMAC menu, select JES.
  2. Click Catalog in the Resources part of the ESMAC menu.
  3. To limit the entries displayed, enter a filter string in the text field next to the List button. For example, enter "ABC*" to view only those data sets that begin with ABC. You can use a single asterisk as a wild card.
  4. Click the List button.
  5. On the Data Catalog, page click DCB against the entry that you want to update.
Note: No entries are shown on the Data Catalog page until you click the List button. You can use the field adjacent to the List button to enter a filter string to limit the number of entries displayed. For example, enter "ABC*" to view only those data sets that begin with ABC. You can use a single asterisk as a wild card.
  6. Update the fields Start and for to indicate which records you want to view. Clear the for field to view all the records in a file. The default is that you view the first 10000 records or the whole file, whichever is the shorter.
  7. In Codeset choose the codeset that you want to be used for the display.
  8. If you want to see extra details check Details.
  9. Click Display.

The contents of the data set are displayed. Click Back on your Browser toolbar to return to the Catalog Entry page.

Note: If you are viewing the catalog from the Enterprise Server Administration page, and you attempt to view all the records in a large file, be aware that your browser will take some time to display all the records, and might run out of memory.
