iFileshare Configuration

Traditionally, the configuration of a standalone fileshare environment consisted of the fileshare server configuration, the client configuration, and a database reference file.

With iFileshare, the use of a configuration file for the server configuration is no longer required; the majority of the configuration is now facilitated through Enterprise Server; for example, a fileshare listener specifies the name of the server and the communications protocol in use. Fileshare security and authentication is also provided by existing Enterprise Server functionality instead of using a password file.

For external fileshare clients, a configuration file (typically FHREDIR.cfg) is still required, and there are now some iFileshare-specific options it can include; see Fileshare Client Configuration Options for more information.

The database reference file (dbase.ref) is also still required, and must reside in the system directory of the fileshare hosting region.

All of these configurations are covered in greater length in the following sections.
