Data File Editor

The Data File Editor enables you to tailor input data files for use in program testing, and view output data files to verify the program is operating correctly. You can edit and view data as records formatted against your program specification, with minimal set-up work.

Using the Data File Editor, you can:

Important: To view and edit a data file that contains formatted data, you must first create a record layout file to apply to the data file. You do this using the Record Layout Editor. The remaining topics in this section assume that formatted data files have a record layout associated with them. See Record Layout Editor for details.
