To start Visual COBOL as an administrator

Depending on the files you create or edit using Visual COBOL, you might need to start Visual COBOL as an administrator. To do this:

Windows 7 and Earlier
  1. From your desktop, click Start, right-click Visual Studio 2017; then select Run as administrator from the context menu.
  2. If prompted, click Yes.
Windows 8, 8.1, and Windows Server 2012
  1. From the Start screen, right-click the Visual Studio 2017 tile.
  2. On the bottom of the page, click Run as administrator.
  3. If prompted, click Yes.
Windows 10 and Later
  1. Click Start and right-click Visual Studio 2017.
  2. On the context menu, click More > Run as administrator.
