Linked Element Type

Linked element types are specific element types provided by function packages, that link to resources outside of AWM. Function packages can extend the functionality of these element types in a number of ways.

To define a new linked element type in your AWM model, you have to add the corresponding function package to your model. Then create a new element type by selecting the linked element type from the function package.

Linked element type functions include but are not limited to:

Examples:

  • Eclipse resource:
    • Provides standard Eclipse icons with decorations.
    • Synchronizes elements of this type with workspace resources, even if changes are made outside of AWM.
    • Provides standard context menu commands like Compare With.
