Layout and Field Validation

When using a record layout, the following validation occurs:

If any field within a record is invalid or the size of the layout is outside the bounds of minimum or maximum record length, the whole record is marked as invalid, as indicated by displayed beside the name of the layout in use. In the case of an invalid field, asterisks are displayed in the field. Selecting an invalid field enables you to reinitialize its content to a valid value (such as zeroes for a numeric field). If you do not re-initialize, you can manually edit the existing value, or leave the field value as invalid.

If all the fields within a record are valid, is displayed beside the name of the layout.

You can filter on invalid (and valid) records using the normal filtering process, by specifying the Is Invalid (and Is Valid) operator(s).
