The
MF_XMLEXT_LOCAL_ENCODING environment variable is used to specify the "local" character encoding. This environment variable is ignored if the
XML SET ENCODING statement sets the encoding to UTF-8. The interpretation of this environment variable also varies between Windows and UNIX character encoding, as discussed in
