Setting Up the User Environment

Restriction: This topic applies only when a Database Connectors license has been installed via the Micro Focus License Management System.

The user's account should have been set up correctly to access the MSSQL RDBMS system. See your Microsoft SQL Server documentation for more details.

In addition to setting the variables required for MSSQL, you must do the following:

Ensure that your execution path contains the name of the directory in which you placed your run time system
Set the A_MSSQL_LOGIN and A_MSSQL_PASSWD variables, either in your environment or in the ACUFH configuration file. Alternately, set the configuration variable A_MSSQL_NT_AUTHENTICATION to TRUE. For security reasons, it is best to set the password variable from your COBOL program by asking the user to enter a password and then executing:

SET ENVIRONMENT "A_MSSQL_PASSWD" TO user-entry
```
You may want to make and use a personalized copy of the ACUFH configuration file to avoid impacting other users.
