Completing the Log on to the mainframe dialog

Before you can log on to the mainframe, you need to have configured a mainframe node and configured the cache. To log on to the mainframe:

In the Log on to the mainframe dialog box, the Name pull-down list displays the mainframe nodes that you have defined.

Drag and Drop remembers the details you configure, but for security reasons, not your mainframe password.

Enter your details as described below and click OK to connect.

User-id and Password Prompt
User identification
Specify the user identification to be used for this application. Make sure that your userid has the appropriate dataset authorization.
Current Password

Specify the userid's password.

New Password, Repeat Password
You can change your mainframe password by entering a new one and repeating it in the Repeat field.
Catalog search criteria, delimited by commas
This required field is passed to the mainframe in order to obtain a list of data sets that match the fully qualified name, a partial name, or a name that contains an asterisk for additional matching possibilities. You can specify multiple search criteria in the same line, separated by commas or semi-colons.

The last twenty catalog search criteria items used are available from the drop down list.

Important: When using wildcards, an open search string could return many results and take a long time.
Minutes of inactivity before logoff
The time after which you are automatically logged off the mainframe if no activity A value of zero de-activates automatic logoff.
CCI Communication Type
Select either TCP/IP or VTAM's APPC as your communication method. You must make sure that the appropriate communication stack has been installed.
Standard Server Name (Optional)
Specify the name of the standard mainframe server, as known to the CCI daemon. If you are not using the CCI daemon, and using direct connect TCP/IP instead, then specify the name of the started mainframe task.
Standard Server IP node and Port (Optional)
Specify the machine parameters of any current MFA server that is running. If you are using direct connect TCP/IP then you will need to enter information here. You would enter either the DNS name of your mainframe, or the IP address in the form xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx for the IP node, and the assigned port number of the MFA server in the form yyyy for the port. To determine these values, you can refer to the $MFATCP member in the mainframe INSTLIB dataset.
Standard Server LU name and Mode
Specify the LU name and mode to be used with this APPC connection. Typically, #INTER is the usual mode to be used.
Note: Once connected, you can return to this dialog box by selecting User-id from the Configure menu.

The last twenty catalog search criteria items are kept, and may be selected directly from the drop down list.

The minutes of inactivity before logoff field indicates how many minutes must have gone by, without using your Drag and Drop session, before Drag and Drop will log you off the mainframe. You can specify zero to override and not have this happen.

Finally, the communication protocol information must be given. Typically, your would enter the name of the MFA server in the standard server name field: the name that the CCI daemon knows the mainframe server as. This would generally be enough, but if you are using APPC, or direct connect TCP/IP to the mainframe without the use of the CCI daemon, then some information must be entered for the server machine parameters.
