HCO has been updated to make it easier to migrate data from DB2 to SQL Server and provides middleware technology to minimize the changes required to COBOL application code when re-hosting the applications. HCO removes much of the risk related to migrating batch or online COBOL/DB2 applications to Windows and SQL Server. It ensures earlier time to market to ensure cost savings can be realized when expected.
The following improvements are available:
- New GUI tools to help assess the migration effort from Mainframe DB/2 to SQL Server, and ease specific database function mappings.
- Better error processing support so that SQL Server mimics mainframe DB/2 behavior.
- New HCO for SQL Server Visual Studio templates to ease SQL Server compilation and execution.
- New DATE and TIME directives to support standard mainframe DB2 date/time formats with SQL Server.
- Additional support for BIND utility with JCL.
- Provided additional support for Mainframe DB/2 scalar functions and label duration processing.
