Studio Enterprise Edition 6.0 ServicePack 1 now provides support for XDB in Visual Studio 2008. XDB is a development-only environment that provides mainframe DB/2 compatibility on Windows for both mainframe DB2 data and COBOL programs. XDB is the easiest way to move mainframe DB2 applications and their corresponding data from the mainframe to the Windows environment. It can serve as an initial step in the migration efforts that lead to deployment implementation for the DBMS vendor of choice.
