Standalone licensing enables you to operate an application without a
Silk Meter server. The client reads the policy directly to determine if it is allowed to run, rather than connecting to a remote or
local license server for authorization.
To support this type of licensing, policies must have the
allow_standalone option set to
true and the
Silk Meter configuration file,
silkmeter.cfg, must include the following line:
run_standalone=true
To switch to and from the standalone licensing mode, click
ConfigurationConnection Settings in the menu and check the appropriate mode.
Note: Micro Focus recommends running remote-server and standalone
Micro Focus applications on separate machines, because running remote-server and standalone applications on the same machine can lead
to inconsistencies in the
policies.dat file, when the file is changed.
