The Settings - Colors General Page

You can use the options on the Colors General page to add color to the text in your display window by assigning (mapping) the various character attributes and their combinations to different colors. This page is available in VT and WYSE sessions only.

NOTE:If you use the navigation feature to record host pages and attach a colors scheme to an individual host application screen, the scheme that you attach is used whenever you view that screen, even when you do not use navigation to display it. You can use this feature to force an individual host screen to use a specific color scheme.

To change the color of normal text

  1. In a VT or WYSE session, from the Options menu, choose Settings.

  2. Under Categories, choose Colors.

  3. On the General page, select Normal from the Current Attribute list.

  4. Select the Foreground and Background colors you want to use for normal text.

    NOTE:Select Inverse Screen on the Display page to reverse the VT foreground and background colors.

Setting

Description

Scheme

Type the filename of an existing color scheme, or select a scheme from the list.

Save As

Choose this button to save the selected group of color options as a new scheme.

Delete

Choose this button to delete the displayed Colors scheme.

Bold or Dim

Make characters with this attribute available in the Current Attribute list. Which attribute is offered depends on the type of session.

Underline

Make characters with the underline character attribute available in the Current attribute list.

Inverse

Make characters with the inverse character attribute available in the Current attribute list.

Blink

Make characters with the blink character attribute available in the Current attribute list.

History

Make history text characters available in the Current attribute list.

Display

Displays how changes you make in the Colors page will affect your display.

Current Attribute

Select the attribute or attribute combination for which you want to specify colors.

Attribute's Foreground Color

Choose a foreground color for the selected attribute or attribute combination.

Attribute's Background Color

Choose a background color for the selected attribute or attribute combination.

Reset Current Attribute

Reset the foreground and background colors for the attribute selected under Current Attribute.

Reset All Attributes

Reset the foreground and background colors for all attribute combinations.

To map character attributes to color

  1. In a VT or WYSE session, from the Options menu, choose Settings.

  2. Under Categories, choose Colors.

  3. On the General page, select one or more of the Attribute mapping options. This makes characters with attributes appear in color.

  4. Select an attribute from the Current Attribute list.

  5. Select an Attribute Foreground and Background Color.

  6. When you finish assigning colors to character attributes, if you want to save your selections as a Colors scheme, choose Save As.
