Settings - 5250 Printer Paper/Margins Page

Use the 5250 Printer, Paper/Margins page to set which device controls the paper size and source, page orientation, and margin settings. Also, you can set these options when local (PC) control is selected.

If the Host Print Transform option was selected for this session, the options in this dialog box will be unavailable (dimmed).

Setting

Description

Paper Size

Determines which device controls the paper size.

Use PC Paper Setting

Uses the PC setting for paper size. The host setting, if any, is ignored.

Use Host Paper Setting

Uses the host setting for paper size. The PC setting, if any, is ignored.

Paper Source

Determines which device controls the paper source.

Use Host Paper Setting

Uses the host setting for paper source. The PC setting, if any, is ignored.

Use PC Paper Setting

Uses the PC setting for paper source. The host setting, if any, is ignored.

Page Orientation

Specifies how the document is positioned on the page. See below for more documentation on this setting.

Margins (Inches) or (CM)

Sets margins for printing or uses Host settings for margins.

Use Host Margin Values

Uses the print margins defined by Host settings.

Top

Defines the size of the non-printing area at the top of the page.

Bottom

Defines the size of the non-printing area at the bottom of the page.

Left

Defines the size of the non-printing area on the left side of the page.

Right

Defines the size of the non-printing area on the right side of the page.

Font options

Control of the font setting, host or PC, and lists the available font choices and sizes.

Use Host Font Setting

Uses host-defined font type and size.

Use PC Font Setting

Over-rides host-defined font type and size and use font and size selected in the Font and Size.

Font

Lists the available font choices based on your printer selection. (You must first select Use PC Font Setting.)

Size

Lists the available font sizes. (You must first select Use PC Font Setting. Available sizes depend on font selected.)

Spacing

Defines how much spacing appears between characters.

Character per Inch (CPI)

Indicate the number of characters to print per inch. Select Host to use a host-defined CPI value, or override the host-defined CPI value by entering a value from 4 to 20.

Line per Inch (LPI)

Indicate the number of lines to print per inch. Select Host to use a host-defined LPI value, or override the host-defined LPI value by entering a value from 4 to 20.

Font and Spacing Notes:

If you select Host for both Font and Spacing options, Extra! uses host values for CPI, LPI, and font characteristics to determine a best fit font to print.

If you select PC (numeric) values for either CPI or LPI or both, together with the Use host font setting option, Extra! uses host font characteristics and user desired CPI and/or LPI to determine a best fit font to print.

You can select Use PC font setting to specify a desired font and size (which gives CPI and LPI values) for Extra! to use.

Page Orientation

Specifies how the document is positioned on the page.

Uses the host setting.

Portrait

Overrides the host-defined setting and orients the paper vertically.

Landscape

Overrides the host-defined setting and orients the paper 90 degrees clockwise.

COR

Overrides the host-defined setting, orients the paper landscape, and prints reduced-sized fonts.
