The options in the General page control the characteristics of an AS/400 file that you create or replace when you send a PC file to the AS/400. The options available depend on whether you choose to replace an existing member, create a file and member, or create a member. Use this dialog box to specify how you want data handled when you are sending a PC file to the AS/400.

File Type |
Specifies the type of PC file you are sending to the AS/400. You can select either Source File or Data File. The Source File type applies to files containing source code, such as a CL program. The Data File type applies to files containing tabular data, such as a database file. |
Record Length |
Specifies the logical record length for the file, where the value is the number of characters in each record. The acceptable range of values is based on the selected record format. The default record length is 0 bytes. If the record format is variable or fixed, enter a value of 5 to 32767 (inclusive). If you are appending to an existing file, the record length is ignored. For most file transfers, you won't need to change this option. |
