Using Direct TCP/IP Support

Direct TCP/IP support allows you to access host components that directly support TCP/IP. TCP/IP is frequently the fastest way to support FTP between a host and your PC.

Using Direct TCP/IP

  • Your host must directly support the TCP/IP protocol.

  • You can use the Request Server Mapper for Port Settings option to allow a more flexible port number assignment to any of the individual host servers other then the Server Mapper which uses a "well-known" port number(449 TPC).

  • The server daemon needs to be running on the host. By default the TCP/IP based server daemon is not started on the AS400 within their designated subsystem.

You can use the following commands on the host to manually start the host server daemon:

    STRHOSTSVR (Start Host Server) Command

    Example: STRHOSTSVR SERVER(*ALL)

    NOTE:Possible server parameters are:

    "*CENTRAL,*DATABASE, *DTAQ, *FILE, *NETPRT,

    *RMTCMD, *SIGNON, *SVRMAP, *ALL"
