ID Manager configures and monitors a pool of resource IDs that can be used to establish a host session. Resource IDs work in place of the required address or identifier for a particular terminal type. This eliminates the need to configure a terminal ID (GPID or LU) for each and every client. You can use ID Manager with 3270 and 5250 terminal emulation sessions.
When a session is configured to use ID Manager, Extra! obtains an ID just before the session connects and then holds on to the ID throughout the session. When the session disconnects, the ID is returned to its pool. A different ID may be used the next time the session connects.
To configure ID Management for an installation
Use the customized installation option to configure the ID Manager server URL and ID selection criteria for a deployment of Extra!. If you skip this step, you'll need to configure these settings in each Extra! 3270 or 5250 session that will use ID Management. (See the following procedure.)
After Extra! is installed, use one of the following procedures to enable ID Management for each session.
