To initialize a record

  1. In the unformatted view of the Data File Editor, select a record to initialize.
  2. Click Edit > Data File Editor > Initialize Record.
Note: If you have applied a record layout file, you can also initialize an entire record by clicking anywhere in the formatted view and selecting Edit > Data File Editor > Initialize Record.
Note: If you have the Update warning option checked, click Yes to enable data updates. See To configure edit warnings for more information.
