The character set used for naming database objects includes code page support for several standard IBM Code Pages. Code pages allow you to choose from a wide range of non-English characters when naming database objects. The XDB Server supports several IBM standard code pages that provide an extended character set when naming database objects, and when typing data into tables. The code pages supported and their character set definitions are shown in Code Page Character Sets.
The code page characters are in addition to the base character set. The base character set depends on the SQL Compatibility Mode under which you are running:
The SQL Compatibility Mode is set in the Options Utility. For more information on the SQL Compatibility Mode, see the Options User's Guide. Characters from the selected code page may be used in:
Alias Names | Index Space Names |
AuthIDs | Stogroup Names |
Collection Names | Synonyms |
Column Names | Table Names |
Constraint Names | Table Space Names |
Data Entry | View Names |
Index Names |
Do not use any code page characters in a database name or location name. To maintain consistency with DB2, database and location names are restricted to the characters in the base character set.
