Configuring SNA Server 2.11

This procedure describes the steps you use to configure the SNA Server 2.11 software. Be sure that you complete all four tasks.

Use the values from your SNA Server worksheet (V2.11).

1. Configure server properties
   1. Start the SNA Server Admin program if it is not already running.
   2. If the Servers and Connections window is not open, double-click the Servers and Connections icon.
   3. In the left pane of the Servers and Connections window, double-click the name of your SNA Server to open the Server Properties dialog box.

      In this field...	Specify...
      Network Name	The SNA network name (NETID) of your VTAM system as defined in SYS1_VTAMLST(ATCSTRxx). Worksheet value D1.
      Control Point	The control point name (CPNAME) for this server as specified in the PU definition of VTAM or NCP. Worksheet value D2.

   4. Click OK to apply your settings and close the Server Properties dialog box.
2. Create and configure a connection
   1. In the left pane of the Servers and Connections window, highlight the name of your SNA Server, then select New Connection from the Services menu.
   2. In the Insert Connection dialog box, select 802.2, then click OK.
   3. In the Connection Properties dialog box, type a name for this connection in the Connection Name field. Use the value in D3 of the TCP Host/Service Worksheet.

      Then, complete the following:

      In this field...	Select...
      Link Service	SnaDlc1
      Remote End	Host System
      Activation	The event that will activate this connection. We recommend that you select On Server Startup. Worksheet value D6.
      Allowed Directions	Outgoing Calls and Incoming Calls

   4. Click Setup to open the 802.2 Setup dialog box and specify the following:

      In this field...	Specify...
      Remote Network Address	The 12-digit hexadecimal network address (MAC address) as defined in the MACADDR= parameter in VTAM or NCP controller definition. Worksheet value D8.
      Local Node ID	The 8-digit hexadecimal local ID number for this SNA server. The first three digits must match the IDNUM parameter in VTAM, and the last five digits must match IDBLK Worksheet values D9.
      Network Name	The SNA network name (NETID) of your VTAM system as defined in SYS1_VTAMLST(ATCSTRxx). Worksheet value D1.
      Control Point Name	The system services control point name (SSCPNAME) of the host node as specified in the PU definition of VTAM or NCP. Worksheet value D11.
      Remote Node ID	Leave blank.

   5. Click Advanced>> to display the advanced options
   6. In the XID Type group box, select Format 3.
   7. Click OK to close the 802.2 Setup dialog box.
   8. Click OK to close the Connection Properties dialog box.
3. Create and configure the Local APPC LU
   1. In the left pane of the Servers and Connections window, highlight the name of your SNA Server.
   2. Select the Insert command from the Edit menu.
   3. In the Insert dialog box, select APPC [Local] and click OK.
   4. In the New APPC LU Properties dialog box, complete the following:

      In this field...	Specify...
      LU6.2 Type	Independent
      LU Alias	A name that represents this machine in its local SNA communications configuration. We recommend that you use the XDB Server name as the alias for this machine. Worksheet value D15.
      LU Name	The LU name of this APPC LU as it is specified in VTAM. Worksheet value D17.
      Enable Automatic Partnering	Enable
      Implicit Incoming Remote LU	(None)

   5. Click OK to close the APPC LU Properties dialog box.
4. Create and configure the remote APPC LU
   1. In the left pane of the Servers and Connections window, highlight the name of the Microsoft SNA server connection you created and select the Insert command from the Edit menu.
   2. In the Insert dialog box, select APPC [Remote] and click OK.
   3. In the New APPC Remote LU Properties dialog box, complete the following:

      In this field...	Specify...
      LU Alias	A name to represent the remote APPC LU in this SNA server's communication configuration. Worksheet value D20.
      LU Name	The VTAM APPLID for DB2. Worksheet value D22.
      Uninterpreted LU Name	The same VTAM APPLID specified in LU Name above, or nothing (leave blank).
      Supports Parallel Sessions	Enable
      Enable Automatic Partnering	Enable
      Implicit Incoming Mode	IBMRDB, an independent mode definition that you have defined, or (None) If you use your own mode definition, it must support parallel sessions.

   4. Click Partners to open the LU6.2 Partner LUs dialog box, then click Add.
   5. In the Add APPC LU Partner dialog box, select the following:

      In this field...	Select...
      Partner LU	The Local LU you created when you configured Microsoft SNA Server.
      Mode	IBMRDB

   6. Click OK to close the Add APPC LU Partner dialog box. Click Close to close the LU6.2 Partner LUs dialog box, then click OK to close the New APPC Remote LU Properties dialog box.
   7. Select Save Configuration from the File menu to save the new configuration, then restart the server to put the new configuration into effect.

      The connection is ready to use with XDB Link.
