In the Layout view, click the field you want to initialize.
Click
Edit > IMS DB Editor > Initialize Field.
An alphanumeric field initializes to spaces. A numeric field initializes to zeros.
Note: Where the segment occurrence uses a conditional segment layout, you cannot initialize any test fields associated with that layout.
To initialize an unformatted segment occurrence or to initialize a formatted segment occurrence without changing its layout
On the tree view, select a segment occurrence to initialize.
Click
Edit > IMS DB Editor > Initialize Segment.
Note: If the segment occurrence being initialized uses a conditional segment layout, test fields associated with that conditional layout are not initialized.
To initialize a formatted segment occurrence and change its layout in the process
On the tree view, select a segment occurrence to initialize.
Click
Edit > IMS DB Editor > Select Layout and Initialize.
Select a layout on the list; then click
OK.
To initialize a formatted segment occurrence and reformat its data to use padding bytes
On the tree view, select a segment occurrence to initialize.
Click
Edit > IMS DB Editor > Select Layout and Initialize.
Select
Use padding byte from the list; then click
OK.
