To create an interface field

You can create an interface field using any of these methods:

Drag and Drop
  • From the Interface Mapper, drag a field from the COBOL Entry Point pane and drop it in the Interface Fields pane.
Note:
  • Interface fields created using the Drag and Drop method are automatically mapped to the originating field.
  • The Direction property for an interface field created using the Drag and Drop method is automatically set to Input by default.
COBOL Entry Point context menu
  1. In the COBOL Entry Point pane, right-click the originating field and select New Input Field or New Output Field from the context menu.
  2. Define field properties as required; then click OK.
Interface Fields context menu
  1. In the Interface Fields pane, right-click and select New Interface Field from the context menu. In this case, a default mapping is not generated for the new interface field. Therefore, be sure to map the new field manually.
  2. Define field properties as required; then click OK.
Main Menu
  1. In the Interface Mapper, click in the Interface Fields pane.
  2. From the main menu, click FIELD > New Interface Field.
  3. Define field properties as required; then click OK.
