• COBRT222 Merge files out of sequence (Fatal)
  An attempt to merge two files has been unsuccessful. One or more of your files might be out of sequence.
• COBRT223 NLS language expansion error (Fatal)
  You have used the SORT verb, but the output buffer is not large enough.
• COBRT224 External Language Initialization failure
  
• COBRT225 Dynamic load error - program component missing (Fatal)
  The run-time system cannot locate the root or overlay of a program that is currently loaded in memory.
• COBRT226 EXTERNAL file definition inconsistent
  Two or more programs define the same external file but with different formats. For example, maximum and minimum record lengths might be different.
• COBRT227 EXTERNAL data definition inconsistent (Fatal)
  Two or more programs are defining the same external data item, but the first loaded program has defined the size differently from the second or subsequent loaded program.
• COBRT228 Could not allocate memory for EXTERNAL item (Fatal)
  
• COBRT229 SORT/MERGE module does not support EXTERNAL using/giving files (Recoverable)
  You have tried a SORT or MERGE operation which has USING/ GIVING files which are defined as EXTERNAL. The SORT/ MERGE module does not support USING/ GIVING files defined as EXTERNAL.
• COBRT230 SORT RETURN attempted after the at end condition was returned
  A RETURN statement was attempted after the end of file has been reached.
• COBRT231 GENERATE encountered before corresponding INITIATE in report (Fatal)
  A GENERATE (Report Writer syntax) statement has been executed before a corresponding INITIATE statement.
• COBRT232 Reference modification out of bounds
  An error has occurred because reference modification has referred to data beyond the boundaries of the base data item.
• COBRT235 Error in debugger communications channel (Fatal)
  The Debugger has encountered system limits or conflicts resulting in communications errors. Perhaps two logins on the same UNIX system are trying to cross-session debug the same program file.
• COBRT236 Debugged program has terminated unexpectedly (Fatal)
  A program you are debugging has terminated without following the standard run-time system shut-down process. The termination was probably either initiated by the user or caused by a severe run-time error.
• COBRT237 Unable to initialize debugged process (Fatal)
  The Debugger has encountered system limits in starting your program. The debugged program cannot start because of either insufficient memoryor too many processes running on the UNIX system .
• COBRT238 STOP RUN encountered during GNT animation (Informational)
  The Debugger has encountered a STOP RUN statement while debugging your .gnt code program.
• COBRT239 Shared run-time system initialization failure (Informational)
  You are calling a COBOL module from a non-COBOL program, and have not initialized the shared run-time system.
• COBRT240 Object reference not valid (Fatal)
  You have tried to use an object reference that contains an incorrect or non-existent object handle.
