The configuration described in this section uses an SNA link between CICS applications running on a mainframe and CICS operating on a local COBOL system, that is one that operates on one or more local Windows or UNIX machines.
This functionality allows Enterprise Server to connect to a remote peer system using a SYS62 connection and support the standard 2-Phase Commit protocol.
One of the benefits that this functionality provides is that it improves transactional data integrity between CICS applications running on a UNIX platform, and CICS applications running on a mainframe under z/OS.
CICS Communications with mainframe CICS regions using SYS62 connections have been tested with z/OS version 1.13.
For information on communication between IBM CICS products, see the IBM publication CICS Family: Interproduct Communication, SC33-0824.
