Password Enforcement Level

Restriction: This topic applies to Windows environments only.

Before setting up initial passwords for users (or before users change their passwords), the XDB Server Administrator (super user) should select a password enforcement level from the options provided in the Options utility. Use the copy of this utility that resides on the XDB Server machine.

Password level options are:

Users can change their passwords by using the CHANGE PASSWORD command from the ADMIN menu.

Note:

If you are using XDB-Link, your XDB Server AuthID and password are passed to the mainframe as a login UserID and password. To successfully access a DB2 location, your XDB Server AuthID and password must be valid on the mainframe system.

Depending on your security needs, you might wish to establish two AuthID/Password accounts on XDB Server, one for times when you are working only on XDB Server locations and one for times when you plan to access a DB2 location.

If you are using a version 2.40 or 2.41 utility or tool with XDB Server Version 3.x (or higher) and XDB Link, other considerations may apply for DB2 access. See the SQL Option Link User's Guide for more information.
