Because there is additional overhead in preparing a query result for Edit mode, the default is to disable Edit mode when a query is run. If you want to make Edit mode the default for all queries that you run, use the
Query Run tab in the Options utility to set
Allow Editing on.
Note: Certain query results are not editable. For example, a join cannot be edited. Also, if you are running against a database other than XDB Server, and the
Check Unique Key option is enabled, your tables must have a primary key or unique index defined before you will be allowed to enable Edit mode.
To enable Edit mode:
- To enable Edit mode before you run a query, click the
Allow Editing command on the
Query menu.
- To enable Edit mode after you run a query (a Result window is active), click the
Allow Editing command on the
Record menu.
