Hiding Columns

Restriction: This topic applies to Windows environments only.

You may find times when it would be easier to examine your result if you could temporarily exclude one or more columns from the Result window. SQLWizard allows you to do this in two ways.

To temporarily remove a single column from the result table view:

  1. Double click a column name to select the column you want to hide.
  2. Click the Hide Column command from the Column menu. The selected column will be removed from the Result window.
    Note:

You cannot hide fixed columns. You must free a fixed column before you can hide it.

To temporarily remove or redisplay several columns on a result table view:

  1. Click the Select Hidden Column command on the Column menu to display the Select Hidden Column(s) dialog box.
  2. Move each column name to the desired list. The columns listed in the Displayed Columns list will be displayed on the Result Table when the dialog box is closed; those in the Hidden Columns list will be temporarily removed from the Result table.

To move a column from one list to the other, click its name to highlight it; then click the appropriate arrow button to move it to the other list. Alternatively, double click a field name to move it to the other list.

To select multiple contiguous names on a list, hold down the Shift key while clicking on the first and last entry of the desired list of names. To select multiple non-contiguous names, hold down the Ctrl key while clicking on each name you want to select.

When the selected names are highlighted, click the appropriate arrow button to move the highlighted names to the other list.

  3. When the columns are in the desired lists, click the OK button to return to the Result window.

When the Result window redisplays, you will be able to scroll to see all of the columns you placed in the Displayed Columns list, but those in the Hidden Columns list will not be shown.
