Fixing a Column in Place

Restriction: This topic applies to Windows environments only.

You can lock one or more columns against the left edge of the Result window to use for reference while you horizontally scroll the other columns.

To fix a column in place:

  1. Double click a column name to highlight the column.
  2. Click the Fix command from the Column menu.

The column will be locked against the left edge of the window (if you selected a non-edge column, it will automatically be moved to the left edge). Note that when you scroll the Result window horizontally, the fixed column remains in place, while the other columns scroll by.

  3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 for each column you want to lock to the left side of the window. The columns will appear in the order in which you fixed them.

To free a fixed column:

  1. Click the Free command in the Column menu.

The right-most fixed column is released. The scroll bar is readjusted to allow horizontal scrolling of this column.

  2. Repeat step 1 for each column you want to release.
Note: Fixed columns that had initially occupied a non-edge position in the table are not returned to their original position when they are freed. If you want to return a column to its original position, you may do so by dragging it back into place.
