File Menu

Restriction: This topic applies to Windows environments only.

The File menu provides options for opening new or existing queries and other objects, as well as for printing and saving. File menu commands relating to your work with writing queries are listed below.

New Creates a new query. Clicking the New command displays a cascading submenu from which you can select:
  Query Opens the Add Table dialog box, allowing you to select tables for your query and place them in a new Query Design window. From this window, you can specify parameters for your query and then run the query.
  SQL Opens a new SQL Edit window where you can type your own SQL command statement, save it as a batch SQL script file, and then run it in batch mode.
Open Opens a previously saved query or batch SQL script file. Optionally, use the Catalog Browser dialog box to open an existing query.
Run Batch Allows you to choose a previously saved batch SQL script file and run it in batch mode.
