Restriction: This topic applies to Windows environments only.
Before you create an alias for a table, you must be connected to the location where the table resides.
To create an alias:
- Display the Create/Alter Table dialog box.
- Click the Options button.
SQLWizard displays the Table Options dialog box.
- Click the Create button in the Aliases group box.
SQLWizard displays the Create Alias dialog box.
- Type a name for the alias in the Alias Name field.
- Select target locations from the Target Location group box. These are the locations from which you want this alias to be accessible. Users in each of these locations can also use the alias to access the table.
There are two ways to select location names:
- Double click a location name on the Not Selected list to move it to the Selected list.
- Click a location name on the Not Selected list; then click the right-arrow button to move it to the Selected list.
- Click OK to accept the information and return to the Table Options dialog box.
Your new alias is now listed in the Aliases group box of the Table Options dialog box with a + sign preceding it.
- Click OK from the Table Options dialog box.
- Click OK from the Create Table or Alter Table dialog box to create the alias.
- Click OK to confirm altering the table.
SQLWizard creates the new alias.
