Managing Aliases

Restriction: This topic applies to Windows environments only.

An alias is an alternate name for a table or view, similar to a synonym. When you assign an alias to a table, you specify in which locations users can use that alias. You can specify the current location as well as remote locations. This differs from a synonym, which provides an alternate name for a table only to users in the location where the table resides.
