Altering a Foreign Key Relationship

Restriction: This topic applies to Windows environments only.

You can alter some of the specifications of a relationship, particularly the On Delete and On Update options.

Instructions for how to alter a relationship are provided below.

To alter a foreign key relationship:

  1. Display the Alter Table dialog box for the dependent table.
  2. In the Relationships group box, either highlight a relationship name and click the Alter button, or double click a relationship name. The Alter Relationship dialog box is displayed.
  3. Make changes to any field or selection in the foreign key definition.
  4. Click OK to accept the changes and return to the Alter Table dialog box.

    SQLWizard displays the name of the foreign key in the Relationships group box. The relationship name is preceded by an * to indicate that the foreign key specifications have been modified.

  5. Click OK to accept the foreign key changes.
  6. Click OK to confirm altering the table.
