Query Tab Buttons

Restriction: This topic applies to Windows environments only.

The following buttons are available from the Query view of the Catalog Browser.

New
*
The New button opens a new Query Design window, and prompts you to select tables for your query.
Batch The Batch button executes the highlighted query in batch mode. If the Quiet option is on, the query runs in the background. If the Quiet option is off, the query is displayed in an SQL Edit window as it runs; each step is highlighted to show progress as the query executes. To set the Quiet option on or off, you must run the query using the Run Batch command from the File menu.
Delete
*
The Delete button deletes a highlighted query from the system catalog. After deleting a query, you need to click the Refresh button to see the updated list of queries.
Open
*
The Open button displays the highlighted query for further modification or execution. If the query was saved as a Prompted Query, it is opened in a Query Design window; otherwise, it is opened in an SQL Edit window.
Refresh
*
The Refresh button runs a query on the system catalog to find out current details on all objects. Click this button after you or someone else has made changes to objects, such as inserting, altering, or dropping tables, indexes, queries, etc.
Detail
*
The Detail checkbox indicates whether comments on the queries or SQL statements should be shown to the right of the query name. If checked, comments are displayed. You may have to increase the width of the Catalog Browser to see all of the information for each object.
