Location Tab Buttons

Restriction: This topic applies to Windows environments only.

The following are the buttons available for the Location view of the Catalog Browser.

Create

The Create button displays the Create Location dialog box.
Alter

The Alter button displays the Alter Location dialog box for the currently selected location.
Drop

The Drop button displays the Drop Location dialog box for the currently selected location.
Set

The Set button displays the Set Location dialog box, allowing you to select a new current location and/or SQLID. This button is available only if a location name is highlighted (selected) on the list of locations. Locations that can be selected in this manner apply only to the server to which you are currently connected.
Note:

To connect to a location managed by another XDB Server (including XDB Link), use the Set Location command on the Location menu.

Refresh

The Refresh button queries the system catalog to find out current details for all locations. Click this button after you or someone else has made changes to objects, such as inserting, altering, or dropping locations, tables, indexes, queries, etc.
Detail

The Detail checkbox indicates if comments on the locations should be shown to the right of each location name. If checked, comments are displayed. To add comments to a location, use the Alter Location dialog box, and type a remark. Click the OK button to confirm the Alter command. When you return to the Catalog Browser, click the Refresh button to view the changes.
