To save your migration specifications

Restriction: This topic applies to Windows environments only.

Once you have specified a migration, you can save your specifications so they can be reused at a future date. To save a migration, select the Save As command from the File menu. In the Specify Batch File dialog box, specify a file name and click OK.

Note:

If a Query window is active when you select Save As, you can save just the query (to an SQL file) or the entire migration (to a MIG file). To specify which type of file you want Migrate to create, select *.SQL or *.MIG in the Save As dialog box before you click OK.

Migration specifications are saved in MIG files. A MIG file records the following information about a migration:

Using a MIG file, you can run a migration in "batch mode" (that is, run the migration without respecifying its options manually). Batch mode is useful for executing a migration that is run on a regular basis, or for running a migration in unattended mode. For information about running a migration from a MIG file, see Recalling a Migrate Specification.
