Location Configuration Window

Use the Location Configuration window to:

• Define a new remote location to the Link
• Modify an existing definition for a remote location
• Delete an existing definition for a remote location

You must define a remote location to the Link before client applications can access the data in that location. Remote locations include data sources such as DB2 subsystems and other XDB Servers. If you plan to use XDB's Password Expiration Manager (PEM), you must configure a connection between the Link and the PEM module on the mainframe by defining a remote location.

To open the Location Configuration window, click Register on the main window of the Gateway Profile Utility.

The Location Configuration window is divided into the following sections:

• General controls (those with no label) and Host Code Pages settings apply to all location types.
• APPC Setup applies only to DRDA(APPC) and PEM(APPC) connection types.
• TCP/IP Setup applies only to DRDA(TCP/IP), XDBHOST, and PEM(TCP/IP) connection types.
• DRDA Setup applies only to DRDA(APPC) and DRDA(TCP/IP) connection types.
