Open MVS File

Function:

This tool is used to open the remote file belonging to the selected element being edited or browsed (read only) in the editor. The tool enables you to use IDz editor facilities (for example, downloading copybooks based on property groups) while working with a Micro Focus z/Server connection. Mapping between the Micro Focus z/Server connection and an IDz z/OS Server connection has to be defined. You can define the mapping in the IDz z/OS Server Mapping list, in the Server Settings dialog page in the properties dialog of any subsystem.

You can use the tool to open an MVS file for editing or browsing if it is associated with an RSED connection. When the connection used with the AWM model containing this tool is an RSED connection, then the RSED connection is used for the remote edit or browse of MVS files.

Tool Attribute:

Attribute	Type	Meaning
Enable System Selection Dialog	Boolean	Whether a dialog should open to select a IDz z/OS Server connection, if no valid mapping is defined in the Micro Focus z/Server connection. The behavior of the tool based on this attribute is described in the table below.
Mode	Selection	Determines whether the tool opens the remote file in edit or browse (read only) mode. The valid values are: Edit Browse

The connection dialog opens only once. If an RSED connection is selected in the dialog, then the connection is used for later edit/browse scenarios without opening the dialog again.
