Auditing System Usage

Restriction: This topic applies to Windows environments only.

The system catalog table called SYSXDB.SYSUSAGE audits system usage. If the Utilization Monitor is turned on at a user's workstation (using the Options Utility), the table stores audit information for that user's sessions, including location start time, end time, Primary AuthID, number of illegal access attempts, etc. To track utilization for all users, the Utilization Monitor must be turned on at the server using the XDB Configuration Utility. This overrides the Utility Monitor settings of individual users.

Note that the SYSXDB.SYSUSAGE table exists in the DSNDB06 database of the SYSTEM location only. Because of the overhead involved in maintaining the utilization data, this table should be purged periodically. See the chapter Server Configuration Utility, or the Options User's Guide (Windows) for information on periodically purging the SYSXDB.SYSUSAGE table.
