Use either of the following procedures to shut down the server:
- Press
F10 when viewing the XDB Monitor Utility main menu. If users are active, the monitor asks you to confirm the action.
- Issue the SQL SHUTDOWN command from a client program (i.e. SQLWizard (Windows) or
Interactive SQL (UNIX) ). If security is on, your AuthID must have super user authority. For information, about the SHUTDOWN command, see the
SQL Reference.
- Double-click the XDB Server icon in the Control Panel, and click
Stop.
Keep the following in mind when you shut down an XDB Server:
- If users are active when you shut down an XDB Server, their sessions are terminated in mid-transaction, as though the XDB Server crashed. When the XDB Server is restarted, all incomplete transactions are rolled back the next time that location is accessed. Use care, since user programs running on the workstations may not handle a case where the XDB Server no longer responds.
- If a query is active when you shut down an XDB Server, the XDB Server waits until the query is complete before shutting down.
