Enterprise Server for .NET lets you run emulated mainframe CICS and JCL applications as .NET managed code. You can use it on a single system, in a scale-out configuration where work is spread out amongst multiple machines, or in the Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure.
With Enterprise Server for .NET, emulated CICS and JES regions are not tied to a single machine instance. Region and task state, and optionally, program modules and VSAM data are stored in Microsoft SQL Server databases, while transaction processing is handled by worker processes running under the Windows Process Activation Service and the Windows Service Manager, or as Azure worker roles.
