To define field edits

Restriction: This topic applies only when the AppMaster Builder AddPack has been installed, and applies only to Windows platforms.
  1. In the Screen Painter, click on a field, then click Edit > Field Edits. The Field Edit Data Type dialog box appears.
  2. On the Local Data Class list, click the type of field edits you want to assign to the field.
  3. On the Local Data Type box, click on the format you want. The Field Edit summary dialog box appears with the default internal storage requirements appropriate to the format chosen.
  4. Click the appropriate buttons to perform the functions listed below. When the applicable dialog box appears, select or enter values as appropriate.
    • Internal - Define storage requirements for the field
    • Input - Define a format the end user must adhere to when entering data into the field, specify an error message, or code your own application edit routine
    • Output - Define the format for displaying the data in the field or code your own application edit routine
    • Values - Specify a range of valid values, a specific valid value, or conversion values for the field
