Customizing Data Type Mappings

Restriction: This topic applies to Windows environments only.

HCOSS converts DB2 data types to SQL Server data types automatically, using a set of defaults to map each DB2 data type to a corresponding SQL Server data type.

If you want to convert any of your DB2 database data types to SQL Server database data types using settings other than the defaults mapped by HCOSS, you can customize them.

From the HCOSS Customize Type Mappings tool, you can customize the following for each DB2 data type mapping:
  • Encoding
    • ASCII
    • EBCDIC
    • UNICODE
  • Data Storage Option
    • For bit data
    • Mixed data
    • None
    • SBCS data
  • SQL Server Data Type - any available

You can also add data type mappings using the Customize Type Mappings tool.
