To assess data migration

Restriction: This topic applies to Windows environments only.
  1. From the HCOSS Assess Data Migration tool, click the Data Assessment Tasks tab.
  2. From the DB2 Connection drop-down list, select the DB2 connection that contains the extracted schema you want to assess.
  3. Do one of the following:
    • To define a new Data Assessment task:
      1. Click New.
      2. In the Name field, type a name for the data assessment task.
      3. From the Schema Extract drop-down list, select an existing schema extract file.
      4. Click OK.
    • To edit an existing data assessment task, select either the Local or Shared radio button; then select a task from the Available Assessments drop-down list.
  4. Choose one of the following to apply to the Available Assessments drop-down list:
    Local To save the generated data assessment task to the directory specified by the Local HCOSS Directory HCOSS option.
    Shared To save the generated data assessment task to the directory specified by the Shared HCOSS Directory HCOSS option.
  5. Choose one of the following to apply to the Associated Schema Extract drop-down list:
    Local To show local extracted schemas on the Associated Schema Extract drop-down list.
    Shared To show shared extracted schemas on the Associated Schema Extract drop-down list.
  6. From the Associated Schema Extract drop-down list, select an extracted schema created using the Extract Schema tool.

    This populates the Table List with information in the selected schema extract.

  7. Click Save to save the data assessment task so that it is available for future editing.

    At this point, you can browse the information in the schema extract file, and you can optionally make changes. If you want to make changes to the file, continue with step 8.

  8. From the DB2 Connection drop-down list, select the DB2 database connection you want to use when updating the schema extract file.
  9. To change the information in the extracted schema, optionally choose one of the following actions for each table on the grid:
    • Change the Count-Type. The default type listed for each column depends on which Table Row Count option you chose when you extracted the schema.
    • Change the Transfer Option from HCOSS to OTHER for tables containing data that you do not want to migrate.
  10. To update the schema extract file with changes on the Table List grid, click Update Row Count. Any error messages are shown in the Update Results window on the Results tab.
  11. Click Save Options to save the changes you've made in the Table List grid.
