Modeling the zExplorer

The zExplorer is based on a product integrated model. This integrated model itself is not changeable, but the zExplorer is able to load an external model located on the mainframe instead of the integrated model. You will find the source of the external zExplorer model in the z/Server's installation XML file named ZEXPCONF. We recommend using this model as a basis for customization.

The major restriction in modeling the zExplorer is that it is only possible to define element types for MVS datasets, dataset members and USS resources. Modeling of the JES Explorer as part of the zExplorer is not supported.

To load an external model, the zExConf attribute must be configured in the master configuration file (see Master configuration), specifying the location of the model:

* Enter the location of your zExplorer AWM model.

zExConf: HLQ.ZSERVER.XML(ZEXPCONF)
