Location Recovery and ROLLFORWARD

If you are maintaining location log files and have made periodic backups of your location, you can usually recover from system failure by restoring the backup copies of the location files (this process copies the backed-up files into their proper directories and subdirectories in the location). Replay the current location log files against the restored location by using the ROLLFORWARD command. See the chapter Backup and Recovery for a more detailed description of this process.

Note: ROLLBACK and ROLLFORWARD do not recover Data Control Language (DCL) commands, such as GRANT and REVOKE, and utility commands, such as SET.
Note: Do not compact tables (or locations) before replaying log files. The log files must be applied to a non-compacted data object. Once a compact is performed, the current set of location log files is useless.
